"Rising out of the chaparral-covered Gabilan Mountains, east of central California's Salinas Valley, are the spectacular remains of an ancient volcanic field. "
-National Park Service
Pinnacles National Park Features the remains of an ancient volcano that used to lie on the San Andreas Fault, but has since shifted its way toward the coast. The impressive, massive peaks and steep hillsides are occupied by an astounding range of wildlife, including some species that are only found within its 26,000 acres. Activities to take part in at Pinnacles include hiking, bird watching, picnicking, rock climbing, and many more.
